What is the consumption analysis of the graphite electrode in the steelmaking process?

Graphite electrode, also known as artificial graphite electrode,  is a kind of high-temperature graphite conductive material produced by a series of processes such as petroleum coke,  needle coke as the main raw materials, coal asphalt as the adhesive, calcination, destruction of grinding powder,  mixing, extrusion, roasting, asphalt impregnation, graphitization,  mechanical processing and so on. It has high temperature resistance, high conductivity, high oxidation resistance,  high mechanical strength. Low impurity content and other characteristics.

In the process of steelmaking, the graphite electrode will have a certain amount of consumption, which can be divided into normal consumption and very consumption. In normal consumption, there are three kinds of consumption: arc consumption, chemical consumption and oxidation consumption. Although they form the loss of graphite electrodes, they do so in different ways.
The primary arc cost is also called evaporation cost, because high temperatures of up to 3000 ° C occur between the electrode and the charge, and the graphite electrode will continue to be consumed, accounting for about 40% of the normal cost.

The second chemical consumption refers to the reaction between the electrode and certain impurities of iron, calcium and strong oxides in the steel or iron in the liquid steel. This cost is also directly related to the quality of the steel and the diameter of the graphite electrode.

Then the oxidation cost refers to the cost of oxygen reaction in the process of steelmaking, and is related to the atmosphere in the furnace, gas temperature and gas flow. 50% ≤ 60% of the normal consumption is found, which is the largest consumption.

The final pole cost refers to the damage of the machine during use during the wear phase.
